The new law on inheritance

The law on inheritance was amended as from 1st January 2003. Some of the most important changes concerned the position of the surviving partner. Their position is now given greater legal protection than before but that should not distract from the need to set down clearly in a will all specific wishes with regard to such issues as guardianship of children and legal authority over property or funds.

In addition, as from 1st January 2010 the new law of succession came into force. New rules now apply to bequests and benefactions. The rates have changed and the rules have been likewise amended.
